4. Maximum System Capacities
The CHS2U-xx is a compact 19” KSU that has six universal slots and one power supply unit. When
the CD-CP00-xx is installed in the first CHS2U-xx, it is referred to as the Controlling KSU.
Additional KSU, referred to as Expansion KSU, can be installed to increase the capacity of the
system to meet the customer’s business needs.
The system can be expanded from 104 (u-law) /111 (A-law) timeslots to 416 (u-law) /444 (A-law)
timeslots by vertically stacking a maximum of three additional KSU onto the controlling KSU. This
provides a maximum of 24 slots and 368
digital terminals. To obtain a maximum port capacity of
512 ports, two systems can be linked together via an IP connection.

For Mu-law countries 104 timeslots per chassis are assigned the G711 PCM communications (e.g., voice
communications) and 7 timeslots per chassis are assigned for the Data communications (e.g., HDLC over
ISDN). Thus the simultaneous data communications are limited up to seven per chassis. For A-law countries
111 timeslots per chassis can be used either PCM or Data communication dynamically.
