4-1. Installation

Take the following steps to install the card to the CPU blade.

CAUTION

Avoid installation in extreme temperature conditions.

Immediately after the CPU blade is powered off, its internal components are very
hot. Leave the CPU blade until its internal components fully cool down before
installing/removing any component.

Connect firmly.

Please connect the product to the computer firmly. A loose connection can cause a
contact failure and can lead to smoke or fire.

1.

Make sure that the CPU blade to which you are going to install the card is powered off (the POWER
lamp is off).

Notice

If the CPU blade is being powered on (the POWER lamp is lit), shutdown all
the OS, then turn off the power of the CPU blade.

2.

Remove the target CPU blade from the Blade Enclosure. Refer to the User's Guide of the CPU
Blade for detailed procedure.

3.

Install the card in the Mezzanine slot of the CPU blade. Refer to the User's Guide of the CPU Blade
for detailed procedure.

Check

„

The installation or removal procedure depends on the CPU blade type. Be
sure to read the User's Guide of the CPU Blade before starting work.

„

If the card does not seem to install easily, remove the card and try to
reinstall it again. Note that excess force may cause the card and/or
connector to be damaged.

„

Install the card in the mezzanine slot corresponding to installation location of
switch module corresponding to the card as 1Gb Intelligent L2 Switch. If
installed incorrect slot, you will fail to connect with LAN. For more
information, refer to the manual provided with the Blade Enclosure, installed
switch module.

4.

Tighten the fixing screws to secure the card to CPU blade.
