6. Notes
Read the following notes thoroughly before using the BBU.
6-1. Notes on Installation
Do not put the BBU on a metallic plate including the chassis of the server. Do not hold
the BBU with wet hands. If you do not follow these directions, the battery may be
short-circuited.
6-2. Notes on Operation
To manage the states of the BBU properly, install the RAID Controller Management
Utility “Universal RAID Utility”. Universal RAID Utility allows you to detect errors and
check the states of the BBU.
When using the BBU for the first time, the initial refresh runs automatically. For details,
refer to “Chapter 4 Refresh”.
You should schedule the periodic refresh for the stable operation. The standard
interval is the once in 3 months. For details, refer to “Chapter 4 Refresh”.
It is sometimes necessary to execute “manual refresh “. For details, refer to “Chapter
4 Refresh”.
The following message is registered in RAID log in Universal RAID Utility and OS log
(Event Log or Windows, syslog of Linux).

This event is sometimes recorded when operating in the long time(above the half
year ). When this event is recorded, it is necessary to refresh manually. For
details, refer to
“Chapter 4 Refresh”.
When connecting the BBU newly, this message is sometimes registered during
refresh. After this event is registered, there is not a problem if the following event
is registered within 1 - 2 hours.
