displays in the NEC MultiSync

®

EA series comply with many environmental

protection  regulations  as  well  as  those  required  by  independent  standards
and quality assurance bodies.

RoHS directive 2002/96/EC

Constrains  the  use  of  hazardous  materials  in  the  manu-
facturing of electrical and electronic devices – in particular,
the  use  of  lead,  mercury,  cadmium,  hexavalent  chromium,
polybrominated biphenyl and polybrominated diphenyl ether.

All NEC display Solutions’ products launched on the market since January
2006 have complied with the RoHS directive.

Note: The mercury in the CCFL backlight has a specific exception of the RoHS directive.

WEEE

(Waste Electric and Electronic Equipment)

The  objective  is  to  avoid,  reduce  and  dispose  of  electrical  waste  in  an
environmentally-conscious manner. All NEC display Solutions’ products since
the beginning of 2005 have fulfilled the WEEE directive.

TCO Standards

With a multiplicity of ergonomic functions and technologies,
the NEC MultiSync

®

EA series desktop displays satisfy the

current  TCO’03  standard.  Alongside  guidelines  relating  to
ergonomics  and  the  emission  of  magnetic  and  electrical
fields, the TCO’03 standard also specifies enhanced recycling

procedures,  maximum  allowed  energy  consumption  and  stringent  limits  on
the use of chemical agents.

iSO 14001 Standard

Both  NEC’s  own  production  plants  as  well  as  its  external  suppliers  are
certified according to the strict iSO 14001 standard relating to environmental
management systems. This means that for all of NEC display Solutions’ products,
all production processes have been optimised in keeping with environmental
considerations – whilst packaging, transport and recycling conform to the most
up-to-date standards.

Energy Star

All the NEC MultiSync

®

EA series displays carry the Energy

Star label, Version 4.0 Tier 2, which in addition to standard
criteria,  also  specifies  maximum  limits  to  the  displays’
power consumption.
