6-6. Saving/Restoring Switch Setting
The parameter values set on this product can be saved in an external file. This section describes how
to save the configuration file in ssh server, management console, or USB flash drive connected with the
USB port on this product. This section also describes how to restore them.
Important
To save/restore the configuration file in/from ssh server, you need to
prepare the ssh server that is accessible via Ethernet port. For
information required for accessing the ssh server (e.g., IP address, user
ID, password, and writable directory), ask your administrator of ssh
server.
The configuration file is needed for recovering the system when the
device failed and replaced. Save the configuration file at the first
installation and when settings are changed.
Tips
The configuration file can be saved/restored by the method other than described
above. Refer to "Mellanox MLNX-OS Command Reference Guide for VPI" or
"Configuration" Submenu of Web UI.
Saving Configuration File (Management Console, Web UI)
1.
Login to Web UI with the account of administrator privileges via Ethernet port.
2.
Move to "Setup" Menu.
3.
Move "Configurations" Submenu.
4.
On the "Configurations" Submenu, select a file to which "yes" is specified for "Active" field among
the files in "Configuration Files". Then, press "Save Copy" or

* If "(not saved: view running config)" appears next to file name, it indicates that some parameter
values are not determined. To save changes in configuration file, be sure to press "Save"
before pressing "Save Copy" or

Select "Save", and specify the file name and writable folder to store the file on local machine.
Saving Configuration File (ssh server, CLI)
1.
Login to CLI with the account of administrator privileges via serial port or Ethernet port.
2.
Execute "enable" command.
3.
Execute "config terminal" command.
4.
Execute "configuration upload active scp://user:[email protected]/YYY/ZZZ"
command.
Enter the User ID and password to access the ssh server in "user" and "password" field
respectively.
Enter the IP address of ssh server in "XXX.XXX.XXXX.XXX" field.
Enter the writable directory of ssh server in "YYY" field.
Enter the name of configuration file in "ZZZ" field.
