User’s Guide
Through programming, you can enable, or disable the
"Good Read Tone." If the "Good Read Tone" is enabled,
you can also specify its frequency and duration. The
details for programming the "Good Read Tone" are in
Chapter 5, Programming Your 7890 Scanner. Your 7890
Scanner comes with the "Good Read Tone" enabled.
As you move the bar code label into the scan pattern,
the scanner tells you if it is able to read the label. The
following chart identifies the meaning of each read
indicator.

Good Read

Status Indicator goes red,
then returns to green

No Indication

Status Indicator stays green
Scanner has not
detected a bar
code.
Verify that label appears good.
Straighten label if folded, assure
that bar code is not covered, and
try to read again. Be sure bar code
is within the scan pattern and close
to the scan window. If scanner still
cannot read label, key in
merchandise information on
terminal.
