Cleaning
To retain the attractive appearance of your anti-reflective glass it must be cleaned
regularly like any other glass. The frequency with which cleaning needs to be carried
out depends on the location and the degree of soiling.
1. Suitable cleaning methods
Normal soiling can be removed in the ordinary way with water, sponges, cloths and
squeegees or chamois. For this purpose neutral non-abrasive wetting agents (see
table) should be added to the water.
2. Stubborn marks, such as paint, tar or adhesive residue, should be removed with
suitable solvents (see table). When using these solvents, precautions should be
taken to avoid damage to the glazing seals.
The following are suitable for cleaning CONTURAN® :
Cleaning aids:
e.g. Cloths
Wash leathers
Sponges
Squeegees with a lot of water
Neutral wetting agents:
e.g. Ammonia
Mineral spirits
For stubborn marks:
Solvents:
e.g. Mineral spirits
Acetone
Trichloroethylene
Cellulose thinners
Benzine
3.
Unsuitable cleaning methods
All strongly alkaline caustic solutions as well as acids, especially hydrofluoric acid
and cleaners containing fluorides, are unsuitable.
They attack the anti-reflective surface of the glass and cause irreparable damage.
Coarse cleaners (e.g. scouring powder, steel wool, scrapers etc.) should also not be
used.
4. Stickers
It is not advisable to stick highly adhesive stickers or decorative films of any
type on ID Scanner since damage can occur to the coating when the stickers or
films are subsequently removed.
Do not use any of the following for cleaning CONTURAN® :
Strongly alkaline caustic solutions
Acids
Cleaners containing fluorides
e.g. Hydrofluoric acid
