Preparation for use
This section contains information about unpacking the BRM2 Brain Monitor, assembling the device and preparing it for
first use.
Please read this section as you unpack the BRM2 Brain Monitor from its shipping packaging, and before you begin to
assemble the device.
Unpacking and assembling the BRM2 Brain Monitor
Your BRM2 Brain Monitor is supplied unassembled, packed into two cartons.
Instructions for unpacking and assembling the mounting components of the BRM2 Brain Monitor are
described in the leaflet
Assembling the BRM2 Brain Monitor
, packed together with this Reference
Manual.
After you have followed the instructions in the leaflet, you will have assembled the Roll Pole, attached
the components of the BRM2 Brain Monitor and connected the components with the supplied cables, as
shown in
Figure 1
on page 4.
Isolation Unit and Data Acquisition Unit power supply
The Isolation Unit and Data Acquisition Unit are supplied with DC power from the Monitor, through the
RS232 Serial Cable connected to the Isolation Unit (see
Figure 7
on page 20).
When DC power is received, the green LED indicator on the end of each unit will illuminate.
BRM2 Brain Monitors before serial number BRM20061200 have a DC Power Cable fitted to provide
power to the Isolation Unit.
The Isolation Unit must only be powered from the Monitor unit of the BRM2 Brain
Monitor, using the RS232 Serial Cable supplied.
Adjusting the contrast and brightness
Adjust the contrast and brightness controls (at the rear of the Monitor, next to the AC supply cord) until
a satisfactory display is achieved.
Changing the language displayed
1. Turn on the BRM2 Brain Monitor.
2. On
the
Login
screen, touch the flag corresponding to the language required.
The BRM2 Brain Monitor now displays text in the language selected.
