front panel blinks or lights up. Refer to the device documentation for LED pattern descriptions and
troubleshooting information.
Windows Device Recognition
Windows Vista does not prompt the user with Windows device recognition. Earlier versions of Windows
recognize any newly installed device the first time the computer restarts after hardware is installed. On
some Windows systems, the Found New Hardware wizard opens with a dialog box after installation of
an NI device.
Install the software automatically (Recommended)
is selected by default. Click
Next
or
Yes
to install the software for each device.
After Windows detects newly installed NI USB devices, the NI Device Monitor utility for launching
applications runs automatically at startup. The NI Device Monitor prompts you to select from the
following options, which may vary depending on the devices and software installed on your system:
•
Begin a Measurement with LabVIEW
launches LabVIEW.
•
Begin a Measurement with This Device Using NI LabVIEW SignalExpress
opens a DAQ step
that uses the channels from your device in LabVIEW SignalExpress.
•
Configure and Test This Device
opens MAX to your device so that you can configure settings.
•
Run Test Panels
launches MAX test panels for your device.
•
Take No Action
leaves your device in the system but does not launch an application.
Right-click the NI Device Monitor icon in your system tray to use the following features of this utility:
•
By default, the checkmark next to
Run at Startup
causes the NI Device Monitor to run
automatically at system startup. If you remove the checkmark, the utility does not automatically
run at system startup but continues to run when it detects a new device.
