communication between machines and users.
interrupt
A means for a device to request service from another device.
interrupt handler
A VMEbus functional module that detects interrupt requests generated by
Interrupters and responds to those requests by requesting status and
identify information.
interrupt level
The relative priority at which a device can interrupt.

logical address
An 8-bit number that uniquely identifies each VXIbus device in a system.
It defines the A16 register address of a device, and indicates Commander
and Servant relationships.

master
A functional part of a MXI/VME/VXIbus device that initiates data
transfers on the backplane. A transfer can be either a read or a write.
master-mode
A device is in master mode if it is performing a bus cycle which it
operation
initiated.
Message-Based
An intelligent device that implements the defined VXIbus registers and
device
communication protocols. These devices are able to use Word Serial
Protocol to communicate with one another through communication
registers.
