Message-Based device
an intelligent device that implements the defined VXIbus registers and
communication protocols
MODID lines
VXI backplane signals used by the Resource Manager (through the use of
the Slot 0 device) in order to perform slot associations for logical addresses.
There are 13 MODID lines, one for each slot in a full-size mainframe.
Module
typically consists of a board assembly and its associated mechanical parts,
front panel, optional shields, and so on. A module contains everything
required to occupy a slot in a mainframe. A module can occupy one or more
slots.
