ACCIDENTAL RELEASE MEASURES
Ensure suitable personal protec on (including respiratory protec on) during removal of spillages. See Also
EXPOSURE CONTROLS/PERSONAL PROTECTION.
Provided it is safe to do so, isolate the source of the leak. Allow small spillages to evaporate provided there is
adequate ven la on.
Large spillages: Ven late area. Contain spillages with sand, earth or any suitable adsorbent material. Prevent
liquid from entering drains, sewers, basements and workpits since the vapor may create a su
ff
oca ng
atmosphere.
HANDLING AND STORAGE
HANDLING
Avoid inhala on of high concentra ons of vapors. Atmospheric levels should be controlled in compliance
with the occupa onal exposure limit. Atmospheric concentra ons well below the occupa onal exposure limit
can be achieved by good occupa onal hygiene prac ce.
The vapor is heavier than air, high concentra ons may be produced at low levels where general ven la on
is poor, in such cases provide adequate ven la on or wear suitable respiratory protec ve equipment with
posi ve air supply.
Avoid contact with naked
fl
ames and hot surfaces as corrosive and very toxic decomposi on products can be
formed.
Avoid contact between the liquid and skin and eyes.
For correct refrigerant composi on, systems should be charged using the liquid phase and not the vapor
phase.
STORAGE
Keep in a well ven lated place. Keep in a cool place away from
fi
re risk, direct sunlight and all sources of heat
such as electric and steam radiators.
Avoid storing near to the intake of air condi oning units, boiler units and open drains.
Cylinders and Drums:
Keep container dry.
