OPERATION

Using the Keyswitch & Learn Function

The alarm keyswitch is typically the only external display control

available to the store employees. The keyswitch has two settings:

—

ALARM ON

 – Turning the keyswitch to

ALARM ON

 activates all

properly mounted sensor cables (solid red LED) and arms the
alarms. It also causes the system to perform an ‘auto learn’

function.

—

DISARM ALARM

 – Turning the keyswitch to

DISARM ALARM

disables all current alarms and keeps any new alarms from be-
ing heard. Use this setting when you want to change products
on the display, perform routine maintenance, or troubleshoot
certain problems.

The ‘Auto Learn’ Function

An ‘auto learn’ function is performed whenever the keyswitch

is turned from

DISARM ALARM

 to

 ALARM ON

, or when system

power is recycled or restored. As part of this function, the system
checks the existing product/puck configuration and resets the
alarm module to treat this existing configuration as ‘normal.’

For example, if there is not a product mounted on a puck, the
missing product would normally trigger the alarm. However, if you
turn the keyswitch from

DISARM ALARM

 to

ALARM ON

, the system

resets and now believes the missing product is a normal condition
and no alarm sounds. Once a product is added back to this puck,
you must again perform the learn function to re-establish this as
the new ‘normal’ condition.

Arming the Display

Turn on power to system

Turn keyswitch from

DISARM ALARM to ALARM ON

This activates and arms

all active positions

Verify all sensors

have a solid red LED

System is now armed and

ready for use

Sensor is active

and in a

state of alarm

Important!

If the LED is off, the

position is not armed.

A position becomes active if it is in

an alarm state when you perform

the “learn” function.

—

If you turn the keyswitch to DISARM

ALARM, the audible alarm quits but the

LED continues to blink until the alarm con-
dition is resolved or system relearned.

—

If you turn the keyswitch to DISARM

ALARM and then back to ALARM ON
(without resolving the alarm condition), the

audible alarm quits and LED turns off.

Understanding the LED Indicators

Each sensor has an LED that indicates its current alarm status. The LED has three states:

LED Off

Sensor is inactive

and not armed

Sensor is active

and armed
