Pull up zipper without unnecessary force, stretching the zipper with
one hand while slowly pulling up the fastener with the other hand
so as to close it. It is advisable to carry out this operation in sec-
tions, no single section being too long.
Pull zipper toggle only in a plane with the suit surface.
Attention!
Never force the two zipper halves together through exces-
sive pulling. A forced closing may permanently damage the
zipper which could then come open during use.
Put on the breathing apparatus in accordance with the relevant
Instructions for Use.
4.3
Removing the protective suit
If the suit is heavily soiled, a preliminary cleaning should be done
while it is still on the man.
This is done with water and, if necessary, with detergent additives.
Care must be taken that the person doing the cleaning is wearing
proper personal protective equipment, e.g. adequate gloves, res-
piratory equipment, protective clothing. When removing the suit,
avoid contact with the soiled outside of the suit.
4.4 Disposal of contaminated suits
Depending on the chemicals to which they were exposed, con-
taminated suits must be disposed of in accordance with existing
legislation regarding toxic waste.
5 Care and maintenance
5.1 Cleaning
The protective suit must be cleaned after each use. To do this
cleaning, remove the valve discs of the suit and detach the internal
protection of the pouch into which fits the breathing apparatus.
These parts must be cleaned separately and are fitted back only
when they have been thoroughly dried. If the suit is not too badly
soiled it can be washed with water at 30 °C to which a light deter-
gent has been added. If the suit is badly soiled repeat the opera-
tion several times. Following these operations rinse a couple of
times with clean water.
Afterwards the opened suit is hung up by the boots. The suit and
the removed parts must not be exposed to radiant heat (radia-
tors, direct sunlight). When a drying cabinet is used its tempera-
ture must not 40 °C. After the protective suit has been
cleaned, the zipper must be thoroughly cleaned with a brush so as
to remove any small foreign object such as hairs, bristles etc. Do
not use hard or sharp objects.
5.2 Disinfection
After cleaning, the suit should be disinfected with an appropriate disin-
fectant. Observe the Instructions for Use stated on the disinfectant.
5.3 Maintenance
After each use and each cleaning operation and regularly every
6 months a test for tightness against gas etc. of the suit, the mask
and the suit valves must be made. As far as the mask is concerned
refer to the Instructions for Use for the mask. After each clean-
ing operation and after every 6 months in storage the zipper must
be completely opened and lubricated with an appropriate grease
pencil or spray.
The tightness test may be carried out with the appropriate Suit
Tightness Check Kit. For checking the valves it is necessary to use
an adapter connection and a compensation container. The tight-
ness test for the mask may be carried out with the test apparatus
Multitest Plus.
