A mesh nebulizer works differently than a conventional com-
pressor inhaler and is therefore particularly quiet and light.
Inside the nebulizer head there is a curved base plate with
precision drilled holes - similar to a sieve. All holes are exactly
the same size.
Now you fill the medicine on this base plate. Due to the
surface tension its „floats“ on the plate. As soon as the device
is switched on, a so-called piezo element causes vibrations
which are transmitted to the plate (similar to ultrasound
technology). The vibrations pump the medication through the
holes in the base plate.
The very uniform droplet size of the aerosol is determined by
the diameter of the holes.
