SBV5322 SURFboard Digital Voice Modem

Introduction

Precautions

Postpone digital voice modem installation until there is no risk of thunderstorm or lightning 
activity in the area. 

To avoid damaging the digital voice modem with static electricity:

•

First connect the coaxial cable to the grounded cable TV wall outlet.

To prevent overheating the digital voice modem, do not block the ventilation holes.

Do not open the digital voice modem. Refer all service to your cable provider.

Wipe the digital voice modem with a clean, dry cloth. Never use cleaning fluid or similar 
chemicals. Do not spray cleaners directly on the unit or use forced air to remove dust.

Caution

Contact your cable provider before connecting your digital voice modem to your 
existing telephone wiring. Do not connect the telephone wire to a traditional 
telephone (

PSTN

) service.
