RATING
: Press
SELECT
to set the
R a t i n g
. DVD Rating (also called Parental Control) allows
parents to stop the playback of certain DVDs they deem unsuitable for their children. Most
DVDs are encoded with a rating level and if the rating level of the disc is higher than the
preset level, playback is prohibited unless a password is entered. The DCP501 cannot
prevent the playback of DVD titles that do not have a rating level encoded onto the disc,
regardless of the desired rating level setting on the DCP501.
DVDs use a rating system consisting of eight rating levels. The MPAA rating system is
shown in the list below. The factory setting is
8
which allows all DVDs to be played.
MPAA Rating “G—General”: Level 1
MPAA Rating “PG—Parental Guidance”: Level 3
MPAA Rating “PG13—Parental Guidance and 13 years old”: Level 4
MPAA Rating “R—Restricted”: Level 6
MPAA Rating “NC17—from 17 years old”: Level 7
