A. Optical 

maintenance. 

 

Do not attempt to disassemble any optical component. For any repair work not specified in this manual, 
consult the technical service responsible in your area.  

 

Before cleaning the lens surface, remove dust with a brush specifically for lenses, or with low pressure 
compressed air, found in any photography shop.  

 

1. Cleaning 

the 

eyepiece 

 

a.  Do not remove the eyepiece (1) from the eyepiece tube (2). 

 

b.  Only clean the outer surface, misting the lens with breath.  

 

c.  Next, dry the lens with special lens paper in circular motions, from the centre of the lens, 

outwards. Do not clean the lens when dry, as they can easily be scratched.  

 

1. Cleaning 

the 

objectives. 

 

a.  Do not remove the objectives from the stereomicroscope. 

 

b.  Only clean the outer surface, dampening a soft cotton cloth slightly with Xylene, and 

afterwards, drying the lens with the same cloth.  

 
B.  Electrical maintenance. (Except S-10-P) 
 

1.  Changing the transmitted illumination  bulb. (Only for S-20-2LOO) 
 

a.  Loosen the stage support screw (Fig. 1) with the key provided and remove the stage(9). 

 

b.  Carefully remove the bulb, pulling it straight out of the socket.  

 

c.  Place the replacement bulb in the socket. 

 

d.  If the bulb has been touched with fingers, make sure it has been cleaned, as this could affect 

light transmission.  

 

e.  Replace the stage, and tighten the stage support screw.   

 

2.  Changing the incident light bulb.  

 

a. Unscrew 

the 

illumination adjustment screw, (13) turning it anti-clockwise, whilst holding the 

bulb protector.  

 

b.  Carefully remove the bulb, pulling it straight out of the socket.  

 

c.  Place the replacement bulb in the socket.  

 

f. 

If the bulb has been touched with fingers, make sure it has been cleaned, as this could effect 
light transmission.  

 

d.  Replace the bulb protector and tighten the adjustment screw once again. 

 

3.  Changing the fuse. 

 

a.  With a flat screwdriver, press lightly on the slot on the fuse cap (Fig. 2) and turn 1/4 turn 

in the direction indicated on the arrow.
