Helm Control Systems

Typical Mercruiser DTS Joystick Control

For safety and improved tight quarter maneuver-
ing, the controlling software on most systems 
      X  -
ing angle and steering wheel resistance to preset 
limits as the engine speed increases or decreases.  
The steering angles and steering wheel resistance

The steering on each drive is totally independent 
with full redundancy built into the system. If the 
steering fails on one drive unit, the other will con-
tinue to operate.  Should a failure in one steering 
system occur, the controlling software will sense 
the failure and limit the engine RPM as a safety 
precaution.

4.7  Joystick Controls
