Lectern with Amplifier System
These instructions are intended for users
without any special technical knowledge .
Please read the instructions carefully prior to
operation and keep them for later reference .
All operating elements and connections de-
scribed can be found on page 2 .

2 Safety Notes
The unit corresponds to all relevant directives
of the EU and is therefore marked with .
WARNING
The unit uses dangerous
mains voltage . Leave ser-
vicing to skilled personnel .
Inexpert handling may result
in electric shock .

The unit is suitable for indoor use only . Pro-
tect it against dripping water, splash water
and high air humidity . The admissible ambi-
ent temperature range is 0 – 40 °C .

Do not operate the unit and immediately
disconnect the mains cable from the mains
socket
1 . if the unit or the mains cable is visibly
damaged,
2 . if a defect might have occurred after the
unit was dropped or suffered a similar
accident,
3 . if malfunctions occur .
In any case the unit must be repaired by
skilled personnel .

Never pull the mains cable to disconnect
the mains plug from the socket, always
seize the plug .
•
For cleaning only use a dry, soft cloth; never
use water or chemicals .
•
No guarantee claims for the unit and no li-
ability for any resulting personal damage or
material damage will be accepted if the unit
is used for other purposes than originally
intended, if it is not correctly connected,
installed or operated, or if it is not repaired
in an expert way .
If the unit is to be put out of oper-
ation definitively, take it to a local
recycling plant for a disposal which
is not harmful to the environment .
3 Applications
The lectern SPEECH-104D features a
high-quality 2-way speaker system, a mixing
amplifier with three input channels and a re-
ceiver section for two wireless microphones .
The lectern is designed for lectures, speeches,
readings, etc . The optional wireless micro-
phones offer additional mobility (they can, for
example, be handed round in the audience
for questions) . Apart from microphones, other
audio sources (e . g . CD players for music re-
play) can be connected . When speaking into
the microphone, it is possible to automatically
mute the music, for example .
The connection LINE LINK can be used
to route the output signal to a recorder or
another amplifier system . A speaker con-
nected to the speaker output may be used
as an addition or alternative to the internal
speaker . For optimum illumination of the
upper side of the lectern, a gooseneck light
can be connected .
With the rechargeable batteries, the
lectern can be operated for up to 16 hours
without being connected to the mains .

3.2 Conformity and approval
Herewith, MONACOR INTERNATIONAL de-
clare that the wireless receiver of the lectern
SPEECH- 104D complies with the directive
2014 / 53 / EU . The EU declaration of conform-
ity is available on the Internet:

The wireless system (transmitter and receiver)
is generally approved for operation in EU and
EFTA countries, it is licence-free and requires
no registration .
4 Setting up the Lectern
4.1 Installation

1) Use four screws to fasten the base plate
to the lower side of the column .
2) Place the upper part of the lectern onto
the column and fold up the cover .
3) Use four screws to fasten the upper part
of the lectern to the column .
4.2 Making the connections
Before making or changing any connection,
switch off the lectern or turn down the
volume controls (6, 7, 11) .
The two XLR jacks (22) on the upper side of
the lectern can be used to connect either two
microphones or a microphone and a goose-
neck light .
1) To connect a
gooseneck light
that is de-
signed for a voltage of

12 V and requires
a current of 100 mA max . (e . g . GNL-304):
Connect the cable (1) of the desired XLR
jack (22) to the jack (3) for a light . Insert
the light into the connected XLR jack on
the upper side of the lectern . The jack has
a lock; to remove the light, press the PUSH
lever .
2) To connect a
microphone
: Connect the
cable (1) of the desired XLR jack to the
input jack MIC 1 (2) or MIC 2 (4) . Insert the
microphone (e . g . an appropriate goose-
neck microphone of the EMG…P series)
into the connected XLR jack (22) on the
upper side of the lectern and then direct
the microphone towards the lecturer .
