How can I communicate with an
EM500 using Microsoft's
Hyperterminal?
1. Doubleclick the Hypertrm.exe icon.
2. For the Connection Description, use EM500.
3. At the Connect To window, select Direct to Com1 (or whichever port you're using).
4. At the COM Properties window, select the following parameters:
• Bits per second: 19200
• Data bits: 8
• Parity: None
• Stop bits: 1
• Flow control: Hardware
5. While the connection is attempted (it may fail), exit Hyperterminal. When prompted to save the session, do
so.
6. Right click on the resulting Em500.ht file and select Properties.
7. Under the Settings tab, choose Emulation: VT52.
8. Press OK to close the window.
9. Doubleclicking the EM500.ht will now cleanly connect to an attached EM500. Commands may be typed
and the EM500 will respond in the same screen.
