Connection and installation
Connect the two glow plug connection cables of the Automatic LiPo Voltage and Heat Control (1 and
2) to the combustion engine as illustrated in images 2 and 3. Make sure that there is a good
connection to the glow plug and the engine case.
Make absolutely sure that there is no direct contact between the glow plug clamp (1) and
the engine case.
The JR plug for receiver/servo power supply (5) is connected to the BATT connection or a free
output on the receiver. See the already connected servo plugs for the right polarity.
Important!
Only connect high-quality LiPo batteries (20 - 30 C) with sufficient capacity to the BEC
battery connection plug (4). The battery in a helicopter with four digital servos and one
analogue servo should have a capacity of approx. 1,800 - 2,100 mAh.
The control unit (7) and the operating unit (3) are best attached to the model using double-sided
adhesive tape. Ensure proper heat dissipation of the heat generated at the heat sink of the control
unit. The operating unit should be installed so that it is easily visible and the power switch (10) is
easily accessible.
Using the device
First switch on the transmitter, then switch on the Automatic LiPo Voltage and Heat Control using
the power switch (10). Due to the BEC switch in the control unit, the receiver is supplied with power
and the servos assume their basic position as set by the switches and control sticks on the
transmitter. The 5 LEDs of the battery state indicator (8) inform you about the present voltage in the
connected LiPo battery.
Important:
Only operate your model if the LEDs indicate that there is still enough operating voltage
in the LiPo battery. When the battery is completely charged, all five LEDs are lit. If only
the orange and the red LED are lit, the voltage is below 7.6 V. If only the red LED is lit,
the battery state is too low to operate the model.
Start procedure:
Press the start button for automatic heating (11) to activate the glow plug heating. The blue LED (9)
indicates that the glow plug is properly powered. The orange LED (12) indicates that current is
flowing through the glow plug.
As long as both LEDs are lit, you can start the combustion engine of your model. After approx. 10
seconds, both LEDs go out and the glow plug current is switched off again. If the engine has not been
started within that time, you can press the start button again for additional start attempts.
If only the red LED (13) is lit instead of the blue LED (9) and the orange LED (12), there
is a short circuit in the glow plug circuit. The glow plug clamp might be touching the engine
case or the glow plug is faulty.
Practical tip:
• Before pressing the start button, make sure the operational electro starter is handy.
• If only the blue LED (9) is lit, the glow plug connector is not properly connected or the plug is burnt
out.
• If the engine does not start although there is sufficient fuel supply and both LEDs are lit (heating
voltage and glow current), check if the glow plug is faulty.
• Please note that the idle-running speed of the combustion engine can decrease significantly when
the glow current is switched off automatically after 10 seconds.
• As the battery state indicator (8) does not provide accurate information about the remaining
capacity, you should use the LiPo rechargeable battery in combination with a charger with a
capacity display. This is the only way to exactly determine the remaining operating time of the
battery.
Important:
The BEC plug (4) is sufficiently dimensioned for standard applications. If you intend to
use the Automatic LiPo Voltage and Heat Control in a big model helicopter with several
digital servos, we recommend replacing the BEC plug with a high-current plug with gold
contacts.
Disposal
At the end of its service life, dispose of the product according to the relevant statutory
regulations.
