Advanced settings and adjustments
Warning!
We recommend that all advanced
adjustments are only carried out by qualified
personnel. An unsuitable adjustment may affect
safety when using the wheelchair and reduce the
service life of the wheelchair.
Adjusting the seat depth
With the Mobilex Barracuda and Dolphin wheelchairs,
the seat depth can be easily adjusted to suit the size
of the user.
WARNING!
The correct seat depth should always be professionally determined by a therapist or specialist!
To adjust the seat depth, proceed as follows:
1. Loosen and remove the screws (1) on the upper and lower frame tubes.
2 Now slide the inner frame tube (2) forwards or backwards until you have reached the correct setting.
3. Replace the screws (1) and tighten them.
4. Repeat the procedure on the opposite side of the wheelchair.
5. After adjusting the seat depth it may be necessary to adjust the position of the brakes.
6. After adjusting the seat depth, the seat cushion must also be adjusted to the new seat depth. To do this,
open the cover, cut off the foam at the specified notches and close the cover again using Velcro.
Adjusting the seat height / height adjustment of the rear wheels
If necessary, the seat height of the wheelchair can be adjusted by raising or lowering the axles of the rear wheels. In
this case, the position of the front wheels must also be adjusted.
It is possible to adjust the rear wheels up or down, forwards or backwards to
suit the tyre size and the personal preferences of the user. The height
adjustment of the wheel axles allows the adjustment of the seat height. The
horizontal alignment (front / back) allows to influence the stability and
manoeuvrability of the chair. The most common and neutral position is "B".
If it is necessary to increase the manoeuvrability of the wheelchair, position
"A" can be used. With the wheels in position "A" it is easier to manoeuvre
the wheelchair but the stability to the rear is significantly reduced.
If the wheels are set to position "A" the chair should always be equipped
with an activated anti-tip. Persons with amputated leg(s) should never use
the wheelchair with the wheels in position "A" - the risk of tipping is too
high. Leg amputees should set position "C" as it provides greater stability
than the other positions. Even when using this setting, the wheelchair should be equipped with anti-tippers
(accessories). As the manoeuvrability of the wheelchair is made more difficult with the axles in position "C", this
setting is only recommended for leg amputees.
WARNING! The correct position of the wheels should only be determined by professional therapists or specialist
companies.
There are 5 different height settings and 3 different horizontal settings possible.
To adjust the axle height, proceed as follows:
1. remove the wheels with the quick-release axle.
2. remove the black axle mounting plate by loosening the 4 screws. Remove the black axle mounting plate by
loosening the 4 screws.
3. place the black axle mounting plate in one of the 5 positions (holes 1 and 2, 2 and 3).
(hole 1 and 2, 2 and 3, 3 and 4, 4 and 5 or 5 and 6).
4. Fix the axle mounting plate again with the 4 screws.
5. Repeat the process with the opposite axle mounting plate.
To adjust the axles horizontally (A, B or C) proceed as follows:
1. remove the wheels with the quick-release axle.
2. unscrew the silver-coloured bush from the axle mounting plate
3. put the beech back in the desired position (A, B or C). 4. screw it tight.
4. screw it tight
5. repeat the procedure with the opposite bush.
