6.9 Speed and RPM Calibration
Vehicle speed and RPM signals are calibrated using the violet calibration plugs labelled “SPD CAL" and “RPM
CAL", respectively. The calibrations can be performed using either the default settings on the calibration plug,
or by selecting specific values using the FM Dealer Utility. Before calibrating, the blue driver plug should be
initialised and inserted in the vehicle socket, and the ignition should be switched on.
6.9.1 Engine Speed (RPM) Calibration
Default Settings
The “RPM CAL” plug is pre-programmed for use at 1000 RPM.
Disarm the system using the blue driver plug.
Insert the “RPM CAL” violet plug into the code plug sockets (the LED should flash once for every
50 pulses received, and the buzzer should sound in a one second on, one second off cycle).
Start the engine
Increase engine speed to 1000 RPM and keep it constant for a few seconds.
Remove the violet plug from the socket.
The unit will beep three times indicating that it has been calibrated successfully.
The FM 3617i/FM 3717i/FM 3817i will be calibrated to the engine speed of the vehicle.
Custom Settings
T
he “RPM CAL” plug can be programmed with custom calibration values.
Disarm the system using the blue driver plug.
Measure the exact frequency of the RPM signal using the appropriate measurement tools.
Set the “RPM CAL” plug to the measured frequency using the “FM Dealer Utility” software.
Disarm the system using the blue driver plug
Turn the ignition on.
Insert the calibration plug into the code plug socket.
The unit will beep three times indicating that it has been calibrated successfully.
