Connecting power
The miniDSP Balanced 2x4 and Balanced Kit require that 12V DC power be supplied. Power is always required, as
the miniDSP Balanced 2x4 and Balanced Kit
cannot be powered from the USB bus
. The 12V DC supply must be
able to supply a minimum of 150 mA.
There are two versions of the DC power connector. Currently shipping units have a round DC power socket
(center-positive). A suitable DC power supply is available as an option when purchasing the miniDSP Balanced
2x4 orBalanced Kit. Fit the correct pins for your country, and connect the DC plug to the 12 VDC power socket.
Older units use a two-terminal Phoenix socket for DC power. This is a removable connector that accepts bare
wire via screw-in terminals, with polarity as shown in the diagram below.
Always double-check that power connections are the correct polarity before applying power.
The miniDSP does not have a power switch. We recommend that it simply be left powered on, as power
consumption is very low. If you do decide to power the miniDSP off or on, please ensure that you turn
connected amplification off before disconnecting power from the miniDSP, and connect power to the miniDSP
before turning connected amplification on.
