In case of application with moving shoreline a warm-up period is most often
required. Consider a warm-up period corresponding to 5-10 characteristic
wave periods.
The warm-up period should not be confused with the “Start-up period” dis-
cussed under section 5.4.3 Wave disturbance parameters.
5.3
Calibration Parameters
The calibration parameters group consists of the following sections:
5.3.1
Bathymetric parameters
On this dialog you specify information related to the bathymetry i.e. the defini-
tion of land points, and shift of reference level, if any.
Bathymetry value representing land
This value is the minimum value you have used for land points when you pre-
pared the bathymetry. In model calculation grid points with values higher than
this value are always considered as land.
Shift of reference level
The still water level (SWL) is used as the main reference level for Boussinesq
wave simulations.
You can, however, use any convenient datum for setting up the bathymetry of
your model. This may for example be Chart Datum, lowest astronomical tide
(LAT), or mean sea level (MSL). The actual datum you use is not important.
What is important, is that for each simulation you must provide the model with
