The GR8 guides you through the steps of selecting
your battery test parameters and interpreting the
results. Before you start the test, review the instruc-
tions in Chapter 4: Test Preparation on page 21.
NOTE
:
When you start a new test, the last test re-
sults in memory are overwritten. Remember to re-
cord or print the results if you need to retain them.

Only the small clamps from the GR8 charge engine
should be connected to the battery terminals when
performing System Test.
If you use the ARROW keys to select option buttons, press the
NEXT soft key to continue to the next step.
1. In the Main Menu select the System Test icon.
2. Use the UP or DOWN ARROW key to select the battery LO-
CATION, or press the corresponding numerical key (1 or 2)
to move the dot to the option button of your choice.

3. If you using the AMP CLAMP option, select AVAILABLE. If
you are not using the AMP CLAMP, select NOT AVAILABLE.

If you are using the amp clamp, plug it into the Control
Module and follow the procedure for setting it to zero.

Use the UP or DOWN ARROW key to make your selections or
press the corresponding numerical key (1 or 2).

To display Kilometers, change the temper-
ature default to DEGREES C. Select ADMIN / TEMP
from the Main Menu to access this setting.
5. Use the UP or DOWN ARROW key to select the battery
POST TYPE. The JUMP START POST appears for the IN VE-
HICLE test only.

The BACK soft key returns you to the Main Menu at
the start of the test and to the previous screen as you
progress.
6. Select the BATTERY TYPE.

7. Select the battery’s rating units. The rating units and rat-
ing information required in the next step are printed on
the battery label. If the information is unreadable, contact
the battery manufacturer.

If you select JIS, the analyzer will ask for the JIS part
number. Scroll to the part number. To increase your
scrolling speed, hold the UP or DOWN ARROW key, or use
the LEFT or RIGHT ARROW key to move up or down four
part numbers at a time.
Press the NEXT soft key to continue.
