(iii) Impeller Release Mechanism (IRM) – type-1
An IRM (a) is fitted behind the shaft sleeve (b) to ease removal of the impeller during
maintenance and repair. Removing this mechanism releases the tightening torque on the
impeller. See Figure 9.5.2-i.
