Remove product from packaging. Checking that delivery is in full and in acceptable condition.
If you are not satisfied please contact your distributor or Metlam representative to discuss.

Ensure the Surface where you’re intending to mount the grab rail is flat and clean of any large
debris.
These units are to be surface mounted and are subject to compliance to Australian Building Code
Regulations and/or AS 1428.1 for height location and fitment for disabled/accessible use as may be
applicable, which is the responsibility of the installation contractor.
In order to comply with AS 1428.1 a grab rail must be able to withstand 1100 Newtons of force minimum in
any direction, ensure you double check that there has been appropriate wall backing i.e.; noggins, installed
where you’re intending to mount.

Remove Wall Mount from cover by undoing the set screw on each cover, keep set screw
aside for later step. Using Fig 1 and the holes on the mounting bracket as a guide mark the
wall where you’re intending to mount the rail.
DOUBLE CHECK YOUR MARKS ARE LEVEL.
Drill and mount your brackets on your marks using appropriately rated 7 or 7.5mm screws or
suitable alternative for the substrate being installed on.

Using Fig 2 as a reference, cut down the open ends of the tube to match measurement A, file
down any sharp edges or spurs that may be present. Place plastic collar on open ends of the
tube and insert the Wall Mount cover into the open ends.

Tighten the Tension bolt on the inside of the Wall mount cover to a torque setting of 80Nm.
This bolt must be tensioned to 80Nm, failure to do so may cause damage or injury.

Place the Constructed parts of your set over your wall mounts. Replace and tighten the set
screws from step 3.

Using the remaining fixings provided attach the PVC pad to the set, aligning the pad to the
centre of the pan or preferred location.
Your back rest set should now be secured to the wall. Check that the unit is secure and level before
wiping down area and disposing of any waste material.
NOTE - Appropriate wall backing (i.e.; noggins) and Fixings are not supplied with any Metlam
Australia Grab Rail. Fixings and wall backing are the responsibility of the installer and should be
sourced as to be suitably rated and appropriate for the substrate being installed to
