If it is necessary to clean the machine's oil channel,
unscrew the fixing screw on the cover (11) and
take off the cover.
Transporting the chainsaw
(after use): mount the contact protection (delivered
with the equipment) on the cutter.
Disconnect the mains plug before starting
any maintenance work.
Sawing chain
Working with a blunt sawing chain causes prema-
ture wear of the chain, the chain wheel and the
cutter. It can also cause the sawing chain to break.
It is therefore important that the sawing chain is
sharpened in good time.
Sharpening should be carried out by a specialist
workshop. The sawing chain cutters have the
following angles: front rake = 85°,
cutting angle = 60°, sharpening angle = 30°.
A 4-mm round file is required to sharpen the
sawing chain.
The Metabo sawing chain sharpening set also
allows you to sharpen the sawing chain yourself.
Before sharpening, read through and follow the
instructions for use enclosed in the sawing chain
sharpening set.
For sawing chain sharpening set or replacement
sawing chains, refer to the chapter on Accesso-
ries.
Cutter
Occasionally, some ball bearing grease must be
applied with a grease gun through the lubrication
holes besides the rivets for the deflector star at the
front end of the cutter.
The lower edge of the cutter is particularly suscep-
tible to wear. To avoid one-sided wear of the
cutter, the cutter should be turned every time the
sawing chain is sharpened.
You should also take this opportunity to clean the
groove and the oil inlet bores (14) of the cutter.
For replacement cutters, refer to the Accessories
chapter.
Chain wheel
If the chain wheel (19) shows signs of wear, it must
be replaced.
After the sawing chain has been replaced twice,
the chain wheel is usually also worn.
See the chapter on Repairs.
Carbon brushes
When the carbon brushes on the chainsaw are
worn, the automatic switch-off system cuts out the
power and the machine comes to a standstill.
See the chapter on Repairs.
Unfavourable power supply conditions can result
in temporary voltage dips.
If the mains impedance at the connection point to
the public mains is greater than 0.3 ohms, further
measures may be required before the machine can
function as specified at this connection. If neces-
sary, enquire about the impedance at your local
power supplier.
Use only genuine Metabo accessories.
If you need any accessories, check with your
dealer.
For dealers to select the correct accessory, they
need to know the exact model designation of your
power tool.
