2. Do not advance the throttle until the engine idles and runs

smoothly and the water temperature reaches a minimum of 54

°C (130 °F).

3. Crank the engine over for 10 seconds at a time and stop.
4. Repeat the cranking procedure until the engine starts and runs

smoothly. Observe the instrumentation to ensure all systems

are functioning.

5. Inspect engine for fuel, oil, fluid, water and exhaust leaks.
6. Check the steering system.
7. Check shifting and throttle control for proper operation.

PRIMING THE FUEL SYSTEM PRIOR TO STARTING

WARNING

Avoid fire or explosion. Gasoline is extremely flammable and

highly explosive. Ensure key switch is "OFF." Do not smoke or

allow a spark or open flame in area when removing or installing

fuel components. Wipe up any spilled fuel immediately.
