The Mercedes-Benz body/equipment mount-
ing directives can be found on the Internet at
https://bb-portal.mercedes-benz.com/.
There you can also find information on pin
assignment and fuse replacement.
You can obtain further information from any
Mercedes-Benz Service Centre.
Notes on the engine radiator
Even seemingly small changes to the vehicle,
such as attaching a radiator grille for winter
operation, are not permitted. Do not cover the
radiator. Do not use thermal mats, insect pro-
tection covers or anything similar.
Doing so can cause the vehicle diagnostic sys-
tem to display inaccurate values. In some
countries, the recording of engine diagnosis
data is a legal requirement, and must always
be verifiable and accurate.

Environmental note
Daimler Truck AG offers recycled recondi-
tioned components and parts with the same
quality as new parts. The same entitlement
from the implied warranty is valid as for new
parts.
If you use parts, tyres or wheels which have
not been approved by Mercedes-Benz, the
operating safety of the vehicle may be
impaired. This could lead to malfunctions in
safety-relevant systems, e.g. the brake sys-
tem. Only use genuine Mercedes-Benz parts or
parts of a similar quality. Only use tyres and
wheels that have been specifically approved
for your vehicle.
Mercedes-Benz tests genuine Mercedes-Benz
parts for:
R
reliability
R
safety
R
suitability
Despite ongoing market research, Mercedes-
Benz is unable to assess other parts.
Mercedes-Benz accepts no responsibility for
the use of such parts in Mercedes-Benz vehi-
cles, even if they have been independently or
officially approved by a technical testing
centre.
Certain parts are only officially approved for
installation or modification if they comply with
legal requirements. All genuine Mercedes-Benz
parts meet the approval requirements. The use
of non-approved parts may invalidate the vehi-
cle's general operating permit.
This applies in the following cases:
R
There is a change to the vehicle type from
that for which the vehicle's general operat-
ing permit was granted.
R
A possible risk for road users is posed.
R
The emissions or noise levels are adversely
affected.
Always specify the vehicle identification num-
page 202) when ordering genuine
Mercedes-Benz parts.
Data stored in the vehicle
A wide range of electronic components in your
vehicle contain data memories.
These data memories temporarily or perma-
nently store technical information about:
R
the vehicle's operating state
R
events
R
faults
In general, this technical information docu-
ments the state of a component, a module, a
system or the surroundings.
These include, for example:
R
operating conditions of system components.
e.g. fluid levels
R
vehicle status messages and those of its
individual components, e.g. number of
wheel revolutions/speed, deceleration in
movement, lateral acceleration, accelerator
pedal position
R
malfunctions and defects in important sys-
tem components, e.g. lights, brakes
R
vehicle reactions and operating conditions
in specific driving situations e.g. airbag
