Front axle transmission
The front axle transmission consists of a single-speed
differential with fuel economy technology.
The housing of the front axle transmission is made of
aluminum and is bolted to the engine oil pan via a
carrier.
The drive pinion is positioned at an 83° angle relative
to the ring gear to compensate for the angled path of
the propeller shaft to the front axle transmission.
The ring gear is attached at the engine end and bolted
to the cage of the differential.
This positioning of the components of the front axle
transmission reverses the change in rotation direction
produced by the single-speed side output in the
transfer case.
