Access point
Device required for a wireless LAN PC to access a computer on a wired LAN.
The ESS-ID of the target access point is required when the wireless LAN PC is
connected to the access point.
■
Client
Computer that receives services. The client can use the information and services
provided by the server.
■
Protocol
Procedures and rules for transmitting data between terminals on a network.
For example, when two computers are communicating with each other, several
requirements for communication must be determined, such as which one sends
what message first, how the other one receives the message and replies to it, the
data format, and measures for communication errors. These requirements
ensure correct data communication.
■

Generic term for the IRQ, I/O port address, etc. assigned to peripheral devices
connected to computers (mouse, keyboard, etc.), LAN board, and LAN card.
