Adjusting the carburettor for operation at high altitudes
A leaner fuel mixture is required at high altitudes, otherwise engine performance deteriorates and fuel
consumption and emissions increase. A very rich fuel mixture contaminates the spark plug and makes the
engine difficult to start.
An authorised Honda representative should adjust the carburettor if the engine is to be used at altitudes
higher than 1,500 m above sea level for an extended period. When the carburettor has been adjusted for
use at high altitude, the engine will comply with the applicable emission standards.
