• Always use personal protective equipment and protective glasses� The risk of injury is reduced if
you use personal protective equipment adapted for the electric power tool and the area where
you are using the tool�
• Ensure the tool does not start accidentally� Check the electric power tool is turned off before you
put the plug or battery in - and before you lift it up and begin to carry it� An accident can occur if
you happen to place your finger on the switch while carrying the power tool or if you connect the
tool to a power source when it is turned on�
• Remove all adjustment tools before you start the power tool� Tools which are placed on the
equipment’s moving parts can cause injury�
• Avoid unnatural work postures� Ensure that you are standing in a stable position and are always
able to keep your balance� That way it will be easier for you to maintain control over the power
tool if an unexpected situation should arise�
• Wear appropriate attire� Avoid loose-fitting clothes and jewellery� Keep your hair, clothing and
gloves away from moving parts of the power tool� Loose-fitting clothes, jewellery or long hair can
become caught in moving parts�
opERATIoN
• Do not overload the equipment� Ensure that you use the right power tool for the job� If you use
the appropriate power tool it will be easier for you to work within the specified power range
- and it will also increase safety�
• Never use the power tool if the switch is faulty� Any power tool that cannot be started or switched
off is dangerous and must be repaired�
• Pull the plug out from the socket or take out the battery before you replace accessories, adjust or
put the equipment away� That way you will prevent the power tool from starting accidentally�
• Always store the power tool in a place that is inaccessible to children when you are not using it�
Do not let others use the equipment if they are not experienced users, or if they have not read
through the instructions� Power tools are dangerous if they are used by inexperienced users�
• Take good care of the power tool� Check that all moving parts are in working order and can move
freely� Also check that no parts are faulty or damaged to a point that the power tool cannot
function as it should� Repair all damaged parts before you use the power tool� Many accidents
with power tools are due to poor maintenance�
• Keep the blades sharp and clean� Properly maintained blades do not get stuck as often and are
easier to use�
• Always use the power tool and all accessories, tools etc� in accordance with the instructions� Also
think about your working conditions and the work you are going to carry out� If you use the
power tool for work for which it is not intended, this can lead to dangerous situations�
• The power tool can only be repaired by qualified personnel� Only original spare parts may be
used� That way safety is maintained�
SpEcIAL SAFETY INSTRUcTIoNS
• Ensure that no body parts come into contact with the blades� Never attempt to remove cuttings
or hold on to any material which you intend to cut while the blades are moving� You should only
remove cuttings which have become stuck when the equipment is switched off� It only takes a
moment’s carelessness to end up with severe injuries when using the hedge cutter�
• Carry the hedge cutter using the handle when the blades are still� Always use the guard when
transporting or storing the hedge cutter� You reduce the risk of injuring yourself if you are careful
when handling the equipment�
• Always hold onto the insulated gripping surfaces, as the cutting blades can come into contact
with hidden wiring or its own power cable� If the cutting blades come into contact with a live
cable, the equipment’s metal parts can become live and give electric shocks�
• Ensure you hold the cable away from the area you are cutting� There is a risk of cutting the cable
if it becomes hidden by the bushes�
pREpARATIoNS
• Never let children use the equipment�
• Be alert to electricity wires overhead�
• Avoid working when other people, particularly children, are in the vicinity�
• Think about wearing appropriate clothing! Do not wear loose-fitting clothes or jewellery, as
these can become caught in the equipment’s moving parts� We recommend that you use
heavy-duty gloves, non-slip shoes, protective glasses and ear protection�
• If the blades should hit something, or if the power tool makes an odd noise or vibrates strongly,
you should always turn it off and wait until the blades have stopped�
• Then do the following:
– Check whether the equipment is damaged�
– Check whether any parts of the equipment are loose� If necessary, tighten any parts
which have become loose�
– Repair all faulty parts or replace them with original spare parts�
opERATIoN
• The equipment can only be used for the areas of use described in these operating instructions�
• Unplug the equipment from the mains before you:
– clean the equipment or remove anything which has become stuck
– check, carry out maintenance or do any other work on the equipment�
– modify or adjust the working position of the blades�
– leave the tool unsupervised�
• Check that the equipment is in the right working position before you start the motor�
• Ensure that you are always standing in a safe and stable way when using the equipment� This
applies in particular if you are working on a ledge or on a ladder�
• Do not use the equipment if it is damaged or if the blades are extremely worn�
• Ensure you keep the hedge cutter away from dirt, leaves and excess lubricants�
