Calibration and metal detection
1.
Press the power switch on the product.
2.
Set the mode selector in the position for metal detection and press the S/D button to select
standard or depth detection.
3.
Keep the READ button pressed during the entire search. After 3 seconds a buzzer will indicate that
the product is calibrated to detect metal.
4.
Hold the product firmly pressed flat against the surface to be searched and move it slowly to the
right or left over the surface. When the product reaches a metal object more segments will light up
in the indicator arrow on the display.
5.
When the buzzer is constant and the full arrow is shown on the display, the product has reached
the edge of a metal object. Mark this point. Continue searching past this point.
6.
Now move the product slowly back along the same line to localise the other edge of the metal
object. Mark this point as well. The centre of the metal object lies in the middle of the two markings.
7.
To set the detection depth on the product, place the product over a metal object that lies at the
required depth. Move the product over the metal object. The detection depth will be set. The actual
depth will vary, depending on the size of the metal object and what type of metal it is.
8.
If a large detection depth is set and the detected metal object lies close to the surface, the
measured width of the metal object can be very large.
9.
To detect the real size of the metal object, place the product approximately in the middle of the
indicated area and recalibrate the product.
10.
Repeat the search of the area.
11.
Repeat the process until the size of the metal object has been correctly measured.
Calibration and detection of live conductors
1.
Set the mode selector in the position metal detection and calibrate according to the above
instructions.
2.
Set the maximum detection depth.
3.
Move the product slowly to the left or right along the wall.
4.
When the buzzer goes on and the arrow is shown in the display, this means a conductor has been
detected. The symbol for detection of alternating voltage conductors is shown in the top right
corner of the display.
Avoiding interference
Hold the product with your hand on the lower part of the casing. Keep your other hand at least 15 cm
away from the product during the search.
Different surfaces
The product can be used on wallpaper that does not contain metal fibres or metal foil.
Metal can be detected at a depth of up to 19 mm in concrete walls.
On rough surfaces, place a piece of cardboard between the product and the wall be calibrating and
searching.
When searching in a ceiling is especially important to keep your free hand at least 15 cm away
from the product.
