OPERATION
Description
The multi detector uses electrical signals to detect studs, joists, alternating voltage conductors and metal
objects through plasterboard, concrete and other common wall materials. When the edge of an object is
detected the multi detector emits audio and light signals, which make it easy to localise the centre line of
the object. The multi detector has a robust, ergonomic casing of ABS plastic and can be quickly
calibrated.
Replacing the battery
Open the battery cover on the back of the product and connect a 9 V battery with the correct polarity.
Place the battery in the battery compartment and replace the cover.
Calibration
Calibrate the product on the surface to be searched. Search for alternating voltage conductors first,
unless you are sure that there are no such conductors in the area.
Calibration and detection
1.
Press the power switch on the product.
2.
Set the mode selector in the mode for stud detection and press the S/D button to select standard or
depth detection.
3.
Keep the READ button pressed during the entire search. After 3 seconds a buzzer will indicate that
the product is calibrated to detect studs.
4.
Hold the product firmly pressed flat against the surface to be searched. When the product reaches
a stud more segments will light up in the indicator arrow on the display.
5.
When the buzzer is constant and the full arrow is shown on the display, the product has reached
the edge of a stud. Mark this point.
6.
Continue searching past this point. Now move the product slowly back along the same line to
localise the other edge of the stud. Mark this point as well.
7.
The centre of the stud lies in the middle of the two markings.
NOTE:
When detecting double studs
they will be detected as one solid stud.
