• Allow the tool to reach top speed before starting the work.
• Work from a position in front and to the side of the tool. Do not stand in line with the cutterhead.
• Keep your hands away from the cutterhead and chip ejector when the tool is running.
• A uniform feed speed will make the planing bit last longer and reduces the risk of personal injury and/or material damage.
• Sharpen or replace planing bits in good time. Blunt planing bits increase the risk of kickback and can overload the motor.
• Make sure planing bits are correctly fitted.
• Switch off the tool, unplug the power cord and wait until all moving parts have completely stopped before replacing planing bits, rectifying faults,
and/or removing chips.
• Dust from the work can be harmful to health. Always use a dust extractor when working in enclosed areas. The tool is designed for a dust extractor
with an air flow speed of at least 20 m/s.
• The noise level in the workplace normally exceeds 85 dB(A). Wear ear protection.
• Use a residual current device.
• Power tools must only be repaired by an authorised service centre.
• Only use spare parts and accessories recommended by the manufacturer. The manufacturer cannot accept liability for any damage resulting from
the use of other spare parts and accessories.
• Clean the tool regularly to ensure correct functionality. Switch off the tool, unplug the power cord and wait until all moving parts have completely
stopped before cleaning.
WARNING:
Check that the mains voltage corresponds to the rated voltage on the type plate. Never plug in the power cord if in doubt. Always unplug the
power cord before making adjustments and maintenance, and before replacing blades.
• If you use an extension cord, the cross sectional area of the wires must be dimensioned for the power supply to the tool. Check that the wires in the
extension cord are correctly connected and in good condition.
• Check that there are no nails or other foreign objects in the workpiece.
• Keep the work area free from rags, loose clothing, and string, etc.
• Damaged or uneven workpieces, metal objects and protruding parts can result in serious personal injury.
• Use safety equipment such as safety glasses or a face mask, ear protection, a dust filter mask, and safety gloves and suitable clothing.
• Always check before use that all the screw connections are properly tightened.
• Check that the dust extraction equipment is connected and running before starting the work.
• Do not force the workpiece through the tool. Allow the tool to feed forward the workpiece.
• Keep the feed rollers free from chips and dust. Blocking the movement can lead to kickback.
• Check the feed rollers regularly to ensure correct functionality.
• The tool is only intended for planing wood. Never use the tool to cut slots, or tongues and grooves etc.
• Do not attempt to plane wood with a lot of knots, or with loose knots.
• Stand beside the tool, not in line with the cutterhead.
• Always check before use that the planing bit is correctly fitted.
• Handle planing bits and cutterheads with care. Wear safety gloves. The planing bits are sharp – risk of cut injuries.
• Allow the tool to reach maximum speed before feeding the workpiece.
• Check the set cutting depth before feeding the workpiece.
• Never attempt to remove too much wood at one go.
• Never plane across the direction of the grain.
• Use a feeder when handling small workpieces, to prevent your hands coming too close to the planing bit. Do not attempt to work on workpieces that
are shorter than the minimum length specified in Technical data. Hang the feeder on the hooks on the side of the machine when not in use.
• Place the workpiece on the table and push it towards the cutterhead. Do not place the workpiece directly against the cutterhead.
• Never leave the tool set up to remove a large amount of wood. Set a mimimum depth before leaving the tool switched off.
• Only use planing bits recommended by the manufacturer.
• Rectify any faults to the safety devices, tool or cutterhead immediately. Do not use the tool if it is damaged.
