Basic Configuration
The configuration, operational, and troubleshooting features of the
EXT
ender
6000 is managed and
accessible through a VT-100 Enhanced Terminal Interface (ETI). This interface is referred to as the
Management Interface (MI). The MI can be accesses with a PC or terminal connected to the console port
on the front of the unit or via telnet using IP over Ethernet. (refer to System Admin. Guide, Chapter 4-
Telnet Connection
)
Procedure
1.
Make sure the Remote unit is connected as shown on page

2.
Using a PC, open any terminal program (IE: HyperTerminal).
Once the
EXT
ender
6000
Remote units and PC are powered-up the PC
displays the following message:
Press “Enter” to start the PBX
gateway
shell…..
Note: If the
PBX
gateway
is powered up prior to opening the terminal program, this message will not
appear.
3.
Press
Enter
and the
Welcome Screen
of the Management Interface (MI) will appear.

IMPORTANT TERMINAL SETTINGS
The MI requires a screen size of 24 lines X 80 columns. Make sure the

is bordered on all four sides with a # symbol, as shown in Figure 4.

Check that the screen is bordered by “#” symbols.
