Chapter 7, Using Your Matrox M264 Hardware
Overview
After installing your Matrox M264 hardware and your DSX software, you are ready
to start working with your Matrox M264 card.
The following sections will guide you through the initial process of using the card, but
you will need to refer to other supporting documentation for more specific
information. For example, to create a sample workflow in mvTopologyBuilder, you
will need to refer to the
Matrox mvTopologyBuilder User Guide
for detailed
instructions on how to use mvTopologyBuilder.
Using the Matrox M264 card for encoding and
decoding using buffers
The Matrox M264 card can be used to encode and decode at any speed using buffers.
For example, it can be used to perform faster than real time processing, such as
transcoding. To become familiar with encoding and decoding buffers using a Matrox
M264 card, run the following sample applications.
•
mvsVideoEncoderTester
This sample application is supported only on 64-bit
applications in Windows and Linux, and demonstrates how to instantiate and use
the
IMvEncoderVideo
interface for encoding YUV frames into H.264 video
streams using a Matrox M264 card. It also displays statistics, which can be used
to indicate hardware performance.
•
mvsVideoDecoderTester
This sample application is supported only on 64-bit
applications in Windows and Linux, and demonstrates how to instantiate and use
the
IMvDecoderVideo
interface for decoding compressed H.264 video streams
into YUV frames using a Matrox M264 card. It also displays statistics, which can
be used to indicate hardware performance.
For more information on where to find these sample applications, see

IMvEncoderVideo
and
IMvDecoderVideo
interfaces, see the
