entering the bilge while doing the procedure. Second step for both pumps is to remove
the two water hoses connected to them by removing the hose clamps.
For the standard pump the next procedure is to remove the three bolts holing the
aluminum bracket to the engine block (see arrows below). Once these are removed the
entire pump assembly will be loose and can be moved to a work table to change the
impeller by removing the rear plate.
For the UV1 pump the procedure is to remove the two bolts holding the pump to the
aluminum bracket. There are two drilled holes in the pulley to enable access. Once
pump is removed the rear section and not a lid must be removed to access the impeller.
For both pumps the following steps are very important:
x
When replacing impeller always check the intake side of the oil cooler (located on
the lower port side of the engine block) for debris. Clean if needed
x
Always lubricate the new impeller with grease before installing it into the impeller
pump housing.
x
Do not forget to open the seacock before restarting the engine.
x
Once the impeller is replaced and the engine is running, check for water leaks in
the area of work.

Change fuel filter
All Marinediesel engine are shipped with engine mounted fuel filters. In some
installations the boat builder may opt to relocate this to a location that is more accessible
for service. This is a simple spin on filter and can easily be removed with an oil filter tool
once located. These filters have a drain valve at the bottom of the filter to remove water
from the fuel. It is very important to fill up the new filter completely with clean diesel fuel
