2   NEC Versa LX and SX DVD-to-Go PC Card Accelerator

Installing the DVD-to-Go PC Card

To install the DVD-to-Go PC card and software on your NEC Versa LX or SX, follow these
instructions.

Note   

The NEC Versa SX system requires a BIOS version 25 or higher for use with the

DVD-to-Go card. To check your system’s BIOS version, enter the BIOS setup program and
observe the version number at the top of screen.

If necessary, download a new BIOS from the NEC web site at www.nec-computers.com and
upgrade the BIOS on your NEC Versa SX. Be sure to upgrade the BIOS before installing the
DVD software.

For details about entering BIOS setup and updating the BIOS, refer to your NEC Versa user’s
guide.

1. 

Insert the DVD-to-Go CD-ROM into the CD-ROM drive on the NEC Versa.

Install the software as follows:

If autoplay is enabled, the CD starts automatically.

If autoplay is disabled, double click the My Computer icon, right click the DVD-ROM
icon and select Autoplay.

The setup wizard guides you through the installation.

3. 

When prompted by the setup wizard, insert the DVD-to-Go PC card into the PC card slot
located on the side of the NEC Versa.

The new hardware is recognized, the DVD-to-Go software is installed, and the video drivers
on the NEC Versa are updated.

Note   

During the installation process you are prompted to select a region code. Choose the

region code carefully. Once the region code is chosen you only can play DVD movies from that
region.
