1. The instruction manual should be read and followed be-
fore using the care bed.
2. Explanation of the terms used on the rating plate:
CE Conformity marking in accordance with the Medi-
cal Device Directive
IPX4 Protection of electrical equipment from water
spray “only use in dry areas”; Protection Rating
Class II (double insulation, protective insulation)
The rating plate instructions must be observed.
3. In the event of any fault or failing which could endanger
any person, the bed must not be used.
4. Only trained staff may use the electrically operated care
beds.
5. Before the bed is used for the first time, the operator
should be satisfied that it is safe to use and in good con-
dition.
6. The 'Melanie' model features two independently-driven
height adjustment functions. These require the raising of
the reclining surface into the final position (low position)
at least once a day, in order to balance out a potential
height difference in the reclining surface.
7. To ensure the occupant does not fall when getting into or
out of the bed, the castors should always be placed in the
braked position.
8. The bed can be moved into various positions. When do-
ing so, take care to ensure no parts of the body or other
objects are located in the adjustment area.
9. Only care staff may adjust the side rails. When adjusting
the position of the reclining surface, care should be taken
to ensure the occupant does not come into contact with
the side rails in order to avoid trapping any part of the
body.
10. A functionality check of the side rails must be carried out
every day. They should not bear any load of over 50 kg
vertically or over 35 kg horizontally.
11. The Malsch homecare beds are equipped with an emer-
gency mode powered by batteries. This allows the one-off
lowering of the reclining surface in the event of a power
cut. The 9 V batteries in the control unit must be checked
as part of the annual safety inspection and replaced if
necessary.
12. The functions of the hand controller can be locked or
released on the reverse side by using the key switch. The
effectiveness of the locking function must be checked on
the hand controller.

proved power source – 220 V, 50/60 Hz mains socket.
