3-5. Alarm
Signals
Th
e alarm signals are output in the following cases.
• When the travel speed of the head unit exceeds the maximum response speed
• When the level of the scale signal detected by the head unit is low
• When a malfunction occurs due to noise or other cause
When an alarm occurs, the ALARM output is High, and the / ALARM output is Low.
During an alarm, the A, /A, B, and /B output signals are high impedance.

e alarm can be cleared by turning the power off and then
on again.
Note
If the connected control device cannot detect the high impedance state of the AB
quadrature signals, implement appropriate measures such as use of alarm signals to
stop the control device. If the control device cannot detect the high impedance state, a
miscount or uncontrollable state can occur when alarm signals are output.
