The centre, fro nt and rear lo udspeakers are marked o n the back. The satellite co nnected
to the centre o utput sho uld be po sitio ned o n to p o f o r beneath yo ur TV set. The Fro nt
To wers are placed to the left and the right at equal distance o f the TV set. The satellites
co nnected to the rear/ surro und o utputs sho uld be lo cated to the left and right behind the
listening po sitio n and slightly abo ve ear-height. Placement o f the subwo o fer is generally
no t critical. It sho uld, if po ssible, be lo cated near the Fro nt To wers.
THE SUBWOOFER MAGNAT ALPHA SUB 20A
The active subwo o fer Alpha Sub 2 0 A visually and aco ustically ideally matches the o ther
lo udspeakers in the N eedle Alu series. Please refer to the separate o perating instructio ns
supplied with this pro duct.
HOW TO AVOID DAMAGE TO YOUR VALUABLE SPEAKERS
All MAG N AT lo udspeakers are designed and built fo r o ptimum so und repro ductio n with
the to ne co ntro ls in the central po sitio n – i.e. with unaltered o r “ linear” amplifier o utput.
Higher settings o f the to ne co ntro ls increase the amo unt o f energy supplied to the
lo udspeakers. This may lead to speaker damage, at high vo lumes.
USE THE VOLUME CONTROL WITH CARE!
If the o utput o f yo ur amplifier is significantly higher than the rated po wer handling
capacity o f yo ur speakers extremely high vo lumes can physically destro y yo ur speakers.
This do esn’t actually happen o ften but yo u sho uld be aware that it is po ssible.
W eak amplifiers with lo w o utput ratings can actually be mo re dangero us fo r yo ur
speakers at medium vo lumes. This so unds strange but the reaso n is quite simple: W eak
amplifiers get o verlo aded much faster than po werful o nes and this causes measurable and
audible disto rtio n, which is mo re dangero us fo r lo udspeakers than anything else.
Always turn the vo lume do wn immediately as so o n as yo u hear disto rtio n! If yo u like
listening to lo ud music make sure that yo ur amplifier can deliver at least as much po wer
as the speakers’ po wer-handling rating.
THE SOUND YOU CAN’T HEAR...
Amplifiers, tuners and CD players can all pro duce inaudible high-frequency signals – and
this do esn’t o nly apply to cheap pro ducts. If yo ur tweeters fail at lo w o r medium vo lumes
yo u sho uld have a qualified technician check yo ur system co mpo nents fo r dangero us
inaudible signals.
