7.3.2. ABBYY Screenshot Reader
To convert the text content of a scanned document, first open the document with an image proces-
sing program. Then start the program ABBYY Screenshot reader and enter the settings required for
text recognition.
Under “Capture” specify the area of the computer screen to be recognized: a framed area, a program
window or the entire screen. Under the “Language” option state the language of the document to
be recognized. Under the “Send” option you can determine how the recognized text is to be pro-
cessed further.
Note:
• In order to ensure the best possible text recognition, documents should be scanned with
a high resolution (HI) and in b/w (MONO). Also check that the document is fed in straight
when scanning.
• To display the scanned document use an image processing program and enlarge the text
area of the document so that it is displayed at maximum size on screen.
• Documents scanned in landscape or upside down must be aligned correctly by rotating
prior to text recognition.
• If the document display on screen is too small, resulting in a considerable number of errors
in the text recognition, the document should be recognized in two or three parts.
