5.1
Machine
The machine must be cleaned of dust deposits at
regular intervals. When doing so, clean all joins and
guides as well as the air vents on the motor using a
vacuum cleaner. Spray the joints and guide pieces
with machine oil from time to time in order to main-
tain their smooth movement.
In addition it must be checked whether the retracta-
ble saw guard moves smoothly. If it does not close
automatically after having opened it, the machine
must be taken to a MAFELL customer service shop.
This should be done after a prolonged period of
operation even if there are no failures.
Only use our special grease, order number 049040
(1 kg tin), for all lubrication spots.
5.2
Saw blades
The saw blades used on the machine must be freed
from resin regularly as clean tools improve the cut-
ting quality.
For cleaning only acidfree but not highly alkaline
cleaning agents may be used.
This can be done by soaking the saw blades for 24
hours in paraffin, white spirit or commercially availa-
ble resin remover.
5.3
Storage
If the machine is out of service for a lengthy period of
time, it should be thoroughly cleaned (see
chapter 5.1). Spray bright metal panels with a rust-
proofing agent.
Store the machine only in dry rooms, where it is pro-
tected against weathering.

Troubleshooting
Some of the most frequent defects and their causes are listed in the following chart. In case of other defects,
contact your dealer or the MAFELL customer service.
The determination of the causes of existing defects and their elimination always require
increased attention and caution. Pull out the mains plug beforehand!
Defect
Cause
Elimination
Machine cannot be switched on
No mains voltage
Check power supply
Mains fuse defective
Replace fuses
Carbon brushes worn
Take the machine to a MAFELL cus-
tomer service shop
Machine stops while cutting is in proc-
ess
Mains failure
Check mains back-up fuse
Machine overloaded
Reduce feed speed
Saw blade jams as the machine is
advanced
Feed rate too fast
Release the switch, otherwise the
machine would start when pulling
backwards. Reduce feed speed
Blunt saw blade
Release the switch immediately.
Remove the machine from the work-
piece and replace the saw blade
Tension in the workpiece
Poor guiding of machine
Use parallel guide fence
Uneven workpiece surface
Straighten or plane the surface
Burn marks on kerfs
The saw blade used is unsuitable for
the task or blunt
Replace saw blade
Chip ejection blocked
Wood is too damp
Extended operation without extraction
Connect to an external extractor, e. g.
portable dust extractor
