At 5 hours
Check knife drive belt tension (single or untimed knife)
2. Loosen the tw o bolts (A ) that secure the m otor assem bly to the header end sheet (see
figure 7.103 at right).
3. T urn adjuster bolt (B ) clockw ise to m ove the drive m otor until a force of 20 ft·lbf (80 N ·m )
deflects the belt ¾ inches (18 m m ) at m id-span.
To prolong belt life do not overtighten. Please refer to the maintenance and servicing section of your operators manual
Check knife drive belt tension (timed double knifed)
1. O pen end sheet.
2. Loosen the tw o bolts (A ) on drive belt idler bracket (see figure 7.117 at right).
3. P osition pry bar under idler bracket, and push bracket upw ards until a force of 6 ft·lbf (27
N ·m ) deflects the tim ing belt ½ inch (13m m ) at m id-span.
4. T ighten nuts (A ) on idler m ounting bracket.
5. Loosen bolts (B ) and adjust guide (A ) show n in figure 7.118 on right. T he m easurem ent
should be 0.02-0.04 inches (0.5 – 1.0 m m ).
6. R eadjust tension of a new belt after a short run-in period (about 5 hours).
Check for Loose Hardware
C heck for loose hardw are and tighten to required torque. R efer to torque specifications section of operators m anual.
Check knife drive box mounting bolts
Check the four knife drive box mounting bolts (A1, A2) torque after the first 10 hours
operation and every 100 hours thereafter.
T ighten knife drive box side bolts (A 1) first,
then the bottom bolts (A 2). T orque to 200-ft lbs (271 N m ).
At 10 hours
Check Reservoir Hydraulic Fluid on Combine Adapter
C heck fluid level every 25 hours w ith cutterbar just touching the ground. C heck w hen oil is
cold and w ith center link fully retracted. A t am bient tem peratures above 95ºF (35ºC ) it m ay
be necessary to low er oil level slightly to prevent overflow . C A 20 and C A 25 com bine
adapters use 15w – 40 engine oil in this reservoir. F or other m odels please refer to your
operators m anual to find the correct fluid requirem ents for your specific equipm ent.
M aintain oil level as indicated by (D ) in figure 7.32
