approach, assuming one has remote alarm capability, is to wait
until the fans fail. The power unit will safely shutdown and issue
both a fail alarm and a thermal alarm. The fan cradle assembly
can then be replaced. Since it is likely that all the power units in
that installation are of roughly the same age, all power unit fans
at that site should be replaced at that time. The approach used
depends on the convenience of the site as well as the monitoring
of alarms used at the site.
Fan Replacement
1. Using the Allen wrench provided, remove the power unit
from the system.
2. Remove the screw holding fan cradle assembly onto the
bottom of chassis.
3. Separate fan cradle assembly from the chassis.
4. Unplug the connectors on the old fans from the power unit.
5. Plug in fan connectors on the new fan cradle.
6. Reattach fan cradle assembly to chassis bottom panel using
one screw.
7. Replace the power unit according to the procedures
outlined in Section 5.
